PACKAGE 1
EAST LAKE
Stay in a family, east of Lake Natron
3 days / 2 nights on site
DAY 1 — Meet your Maasai family in Engaresero village, where every family from the East part of Lake Natron goes to a local market every Thursdays for some food staffs and to fetch water from the river. Their donkeys accompany them to deliver their supplies.
After attending the market, you will take the road with them, 4 hours walking in a breath-taking landscapes to finally discover the location of their habitats, the bomas (small cluster of huts built around livestock pens) in a very remote and wild area of Lake Natron. Some donkeys carrying your food, all camping gear and luggage will be part of the team.
The walking trail will give you the opportunity to observe many animals and wild birds.
Arriving at home and after a little rest, with your guide you will set up the tents and prepare your night (or if preferred bed inside their hut).
As your cook prepare a good meal, you can go refresh yourself from a nearby natural swimming pool with fresh water . Once the tents installed, everyone will come to greet you and you will be able to exchange with the members of the clan of your "boma" who will come spontaneously near you. (your guide will be able to translate your exchanges). The children will be happy for your presence. You will enjoy taste your good dishes under the stars and around wood fire.
DAY 2 — You will be awakened early by the cries of the very young animals calling their mothers, but before assembling them for grazing they will milk the cattle (cows, goats, sheep). You will share a maasai tea prepared with fresh boiled milk from their cattle.
Then you will follow warriors, women and children to their daily duties like looking for fire wood, cattle grazing and in search for food.
Your guide will explain their ways of life, their culture, their traditions, you will be able to interact with your extended family, your guide will be your translator. Maasai love meat and only eat it on occasion.
We propose to share with you the ritual of sacrificing a goat, they will choke it, skin it in front of you, the meat will be cooked over a wood fire, the warriors will dance and sing their ancestral stories.
If you are "vegetarian" no worries, your Maasai cook will prepare a vegetarian dinner for you that you will enjoy around the fire while warriors will be accompanying you their with songs and dances.
DAY 3 — After the Maasai morning ritual and the traditional breakfast, you will be able to observe the wild animals and the birds, very closely along the shores of the lake.
You will refresh yourself in a natural pool of hot spring water, then return to your boma, prepare yourself to resume the road back to the village of Engaresero.
Warriors and some donkeys will escort you to carry your camping gear and luggage and will arrive before sunset.
After this long walk, it will be time to say goodbye to your host family, a pinch to the heart and the head filled with beautiful memories of this human adventure with this people at once so different and yet so close to us.
Guests can the extend their stay at Maasai Giraffe eco lodge and / or go on a safari.

PACKAGE 2
TRANSHUMANCE TO THE HIGHLANDS OF THE RIFT
Transhumance with the livestock of your Maasai family 3 days / 2 nights on site
DAY 1 — Very early in the morning, after a good breakfast meeting with az Maasai family in their boma you will meet a part of your host family at the starting point of the trek with their donkeys and their cattle drinking at the Engaresero river.
Maasai warriors and children who always guide animals will be happy meeting and accompanying your trek.
More or less 3-4hours ascending to Leparakash will beggin here with your guide and cook escorted also by donkeys who will carry the food, camping equipment and your luggage all the way to Leparakash hillsn where you will meet the habitats in their bomas (small cluster of huts built around with cattle pens). They call them temporary bomas because they do not live permanently in this highlands.
What they call the escarpment is the place of grazing during dry seasons where the landscapes are breath-taking. The area is very remote and only the Maasai live there.
After a little rest with your guide, you will set up the tents and prepare your night (or if preferred sleep inside their hut) while your cook prepares a good meal and you can refresh yourself with the very little water available up there.
They will teach you to wash with very little water, satisfy you with the necessary in the joy of living.
Once settled, everyone will come greet you and you can exchange with the people of your "boma" who will come spontaneously near you. (your guide will be able to translate your exchanges).
You will enjoy your dinner under the stars and around a wood fire.
You will live their daily lives, milk cows, goats, look for firewood, follow the herds to pasture.
You will learn their way of life, their culture, their traditions, you will be able to interact with them and your guide will be your translator.
DAY 2 — You will be awakened early by the cries of very young cattle calling their mothers but before gathering them for walk to pasture, it is necessary to milk the cattle (cows, goats and sheep). You will share a maasai tea with fresh boiled milk from their cattle prepared on wood fire.
Then with warriors, women or children go for daily tasks like looking for fire woods, cattle grazing and in search for food.
Your guide will always be close explaining clearly their way of life, their culture, their traditions. As you interact with your extended host family, your guide will be your translator. The evening will be devoted to the ritual of sacrificing a goat, they will sloughed and skin it in front of you. The meat will be barbecued over a wood fire, warriors will dance and sing their ancestral stories around the fire.
If you are "vegetarian" no worries, your cook will prepare a vegetarian dinner for you which you will enjoy around the fire.
The warriors will accompany you with songs and dances.
DAY 3 — After the Maasai morning ritual and the traditional breakfast, you will take the time to see all this little world go about their business and will have time to undo the tents and collect the material for the return.
After lunch, you will start the descent with the warriors and the animals that have to drink in the river bed.
Once down you must already say goodbye, a pinch to the heart and the head filled with beautiful memories of your human adventure with this people at once so different and yet so close to us.

The purpose of this program is to answer the current needs of our Western societies and find ancestral values and a way of life in balance with nature.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is in a doom tent set inside Maasai boma or preferred, a traditional bedding inside a hut, or outside as Maasai warriors do under the stars. All tents have mosquito nets. The toilet is in the bush as your hosts. There is no shows but you will have a bucket of hot water every day for washing in a trekking style or simply join the natives to wash in the river.
FOOD
To avoid stomach and other health problems, we have a a special Maasai cook to prepare your meals. The food is simple but marvellous. You will experience the wonders of your chef while in nature .All the food is well cooked and we use only boiled water to wash the fruits and dishes. Bottled water, tea and coffee will served as well.
